THE DAY YOU CAME

There was a strange chill in the air on that day
The day you came
The day that tore the world in half
That was the day the egg cracked and revealed the death of heaven
I was told to go back to the darkness alone.

I did not want to follow the path that came
But the darkness formed a thick putrid cloak around me
I could no longer breathe for the stench of demons
They mocked and taunted me about the death of heaven
Long were they my new torturers.

But they grew weary of their ways
And the stench began to clear
The thick cloak of darkness was beginning to grow thin
There were swirls of light
Then came your voice from within.

Telling me I had first heard you wrong
And misconstrued the words you'd said
And that the darkness was the very thing you had sent away.
